Before you can enjoy the wonderful sweetness of a mango, you will need to know how to cut a mango. The most important part of cutting a mango is to start with a ripe mango. You want a mango that has some bright red on the skin. It should feel slightly soft when you squeeze the mango with your fingertips. Once you have a nice ripe mango you can start to cut the mango. Place a nice, ripe mango on a cutting board. Stand the mango up so that the mango stem is facing you. Position your knife ½-inch to the right side of the stem. Start cutting the mango straight down to the bottom of the mango. If you feel some resistance, angle the knife blade to the right slightly. The resistance you feel is most likely the seed if you are using a ripe mango. Turn the mango so that the cut side is to your left.
