How Do You Cut A Mango For Fruit Salad?
Mango is a delicious tropical fruit that is often used in fruit salad. The large central seed can make cutting a mango a bit of a challenge for the novice – or any – cook. There are a number of ways to cut a mango. This is an easy way to cut a mango for fruit salad. Holding the mango on end on a firm cutting surface, slice through the fruit about 1/4″ from the widest part of the center line. Make another slice through the mango on the other side of the mango seed. The two cut pieces of the fruit are called the cheeks, and contain most of the flesh. With a sharp paring knife, make several parallel cuts through the flesh of each mango cheek lengthwise. Take care not to cut through the skin. Make several cuts across each mango cheek at right angles to the original cuts. Again be careful not to slice through the skin. Push up on the skin to turn the fruit inside out. Use a knife or spoon to scrape the cut cubes of mango into a bowl.
