How Do You Create The Shepard Fairey Obama Hope Effect?
The most iconic art to emerge out of the 2008 presidential campaign was Shepard Fairey’s Obama “Hope” poster. The image was everywhere, on T-shirts, posters, billboards and made a little-known artist a household name. Of course, if you can do it, there’s got to be a GIMP plugin–and sure enough there is–a Script-Fu script you can download from the GIMP Plugin Registry. Keep in mind, however, the script creates the effect; it doesn’t mean you have the creative mind of Shepard Fairey. But it’s easy to turn your image into a Shepard Fairey-type poster.
