How do you create new breeds of goldfish or koi?
Good luck trying to create a new one – there are generations of breeders who’ve been doing this since 1100AD! Visit a national Goldfish/Koi show and you’ll see the dedication that goes into these fish. You do cross traits but it would take many generations and for those generations to continue to breed true before it could be classed as a new variety rather than just a mutt. Look at the Labradoodle for example!
