Creating your own chalkboard is a simple way to add a creative, artistic flair to any room. Apply two to three coats of magnetic primer to the surface you want to use as a magnetic chalkboard. Let dry completely. Use the ratio of one cup of paint to two tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix small amounts for small areas, such as a tray or door panel. Mix very well, making sure there are no lumps. Apply one layer of the mixture to the dry, primed surface.
