You cannot remove Audio layers – the only thing I have seen that can remove anything is COOLedit – which removes vocals. If you are talking about WAVS – all of the sound is combined -and it would need FOURIER ANALYSIS to remove one part. If you are talking about MIDs – MIDI files – these are stored as each song part and muting one part is not a problem. There are a few ways to make backing tracks- you can either record and composite material to WAV and play that. Or use the PC’s MIDI capability and record things digitally – this uses the PCS internal synthesizer – unless you have an external one. Programs such as CAKEWALK allow mixing of WAVS and MIDI – so you can composite materials from both sources – you may also need a wavediting program such as COOLedit or AUDACITY – the latter is free on the web,the former has now been taken over by ADOBE and is probably paying.
