How Do You Create Double Stitch In Tatting?
• Draw a shuttle thread out to its full length. Keep the right and left hands at equal levels. • Pass the shuttle thread under and then right over the right hand below the top joint of fingers. • Keep the thread in this position and bring the shuttle forward and insert it under. Bring it back over the thread held between the middle and forefinger of the left hand. • Drop the middle finger of the left hand. • Draw the shuttle thread taut. Hold it in this position until the first half of the double stitch is completed. • Slowly raise the middle finger of the left hand. Slide the loop into position between the thumb and forefinger. This completes the first half of a double stitch. • Commence the second half of the double stitch. Bring the shuttle forward again and keep the back end of the shuttle toward you.
