How Do You Create Decorative Batik Table Linens?
Imagine having beautiful, unique table linens your guest will ooh and aah over at every holiday or party gathering! This is a very easy, inexpensive way to create batik tablecloths, napkins, or place mats. Even a simple design can make striking table linens all your own! Sort the crayons into muffin cups for as many colors as you want to use. Put the tin in a pan of water and melt on low heat on the stove or in the microwave. If you like, you can draw designs on the table linens, and then paint them, or you can just paint the designs freehand, using the melted crayons for paint. Wrinkle the linens to crush the design until the wax cracks. Carefully dip the cloth into the hot commercial dye of your choice. Follow the instructions on the dye. When the dye is dry, you will have a lovely batik design.
