How Do You Create Cross Stitch Patterns?

0

A cross-stitch pattern can be made by using graph paper and colored markers. Size the graph paper to your cross-stitch size preference and then fill in the squares with your design. With more complicated designs, such as a family portrait, it is almost as easy to have a computer photo program to do the work for you. You may need to download a program or your computer may already have one ready for you to use. Select your computer photo program or download one such as PhotoFiltre for free. Choose a photograph you would like to convert to a cross-stitch pattern. Save your photograph to your desktop so you can find it easily. Rename your new image to indicate this is the cross-stitch image. Open the photograph in the photo program. Look for a tab that allows you to create special effects (this may also be called Filter or Stylize). Scroll down on that tab looking for the word “mosaic” or “tiles.” Click on the special effect and choose the size you want to use. A small cross-stitch pattern
