Instead of going to your local PC repair shop, you can save time and money by troubleshooting your operating system yourself using a boot CD, which enables your computer to boot to another operating system or utility/diagnostic program from the one installed. The most common operating system to boot from is MS-DOS, an operating system for x86-based Intel personal computers that served as the original operating system for personal computer before windows was popular. Thanks to free software and a CD burning program, you can make your own MS-DOS Boot CD. Download the appropriate boot disk International Organization for Standardization (ISO) image—an archive file that contains the necessary boot software for your operating system (see References section for link). Remember where you save the ISO Image. Place a blank writable CD in your computer’s CD burner. Open your CD-burning software (see Resources section for a link to a free CD-burning program to download). On the CD-burning softwa
