Italy is filled with a myriad of beautiful and historical sites that attract thousands of visitors each year. Although many of those travelers arrive as part of tour groups, it is amazingly easy to create your own tour, partly because of the ease you can travel through Italy — both by train and by automobile. And the best part of planning your own trip is that you can customize your travels to fit your own time schedule and special interests. Decide into which city you will fly to begin your tour of Italy. That decision might be somewhat dependent on your airline. For example, if you fly American Airlines you can land in Rome or Milan. If you choose Milan as a starting point you will have the option of working your way south as you travel.
