How Do You Create Abstract Sponge Art With Kids?
Pass the time on a rainy or event-free day by encouraging your kids to unleash their creativity. Simple sponge shapes and common household objects paired with colorful paint equal eye-catching, abstract works of art. Use the crafts to adorn your walls, refrigerator or handmade greeting cards. Draw simple shapes on dry household sponges with a marker. If you desire perfect images, trace objects like cookie cutters or scrapbooking die cuts. Cut the shape out with scissors. Keep a pair of safety scissors handy in case your kids want to help. Cover the table or work area with newspaper or trash bags to protect the surface and simplify clean up. Dress your kids in old clothing. Pour a small amount of each paint color onto a paper or plastic plate. Bowls will also work as palettes, but must be large enough to allow you to dip the entire sponge shape into the paint. Press the stamp lightly into the paint to coat.
