How Do You Create A Windows Startup Disk?
Microsoft has offered the Windows startup disk one last time in the Windows XP operating system. It was a common tool in the Windows 95 through Windows ME years, but technology has advanced. The Windows XP CD installation disk also works as the Windows startup disk. By booting from the Windows XP CD the user can not only access Windows, but they have the ability to reinstall Windows, or diagnose problems with the Windows XP environment. Place the floppy disk into the computer. Double-click “My Computer.” Right-click the floppy drive. On the drop down menu select “Format…” The format window will open. The default settings in this window are what you want. Click the “Start” button. Wait for the disk to be formatted. Click the Windows “Start” button. Select the “Windows Explorer” option. Go to your c: drive and locate the following three files: Ntdetect.com, Ntldr and Boot.ini. Copy the three files to the diskette you formatted. You now have a Windows XP startup disk.
