How Do You Create A Windows NT Boot Disk?
Unlike most Microsoft operating systems, Windows NT doesn’t have the capacity to use true boot disks. Instead, Windows NT will allow floppies to load essential operations files into memory then switch control back to the installed system. This allows NT users to bypass damaged system files and load the actual OS for repairs. Check your computers BIOS to make sure it will both except boot disks and that the floppy drive is checked for boot information before hard drives. Format a floppy disk using any version of Windows equal to or newer than Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. This will ensure that you have the correct file system on the disk. Copy the following files to your newly formatted disk: boot.ini, ntdetect.com and ntldr. If your computer uses any SCSI devices you also need to copy “ntbootdd.sys” to the disk. These files are usually located in the “i386” directory of the Windows NT installation. Reboot your computer with the floppy in the drive. If
