Insert the blank floppy disk into your machine’s floppy drive. Click the Windows Start button and select “Run.” Enter “cmd” into the text box and press the “OK” button. This opens the Windows command prompt. Enter “format a:” into the command prompt. This formats the floppy disk and deletes any information from the diskette.
