How Do You Create A Simple Line Graph For Sixth Grade?
Mathematical information can be expressed in different ways. An easy way for a student to create a simple line graph is to gather information in the form of a chart, and then convert the information to a line graph. Students can be actively engaged in research, and they can compare the chart with the line graph and discover the importance of graphs. Assign students to groups of four or five. Have each group check an outdoor thermometer daily for the five school days in a week at the same time each day. Each group can choose a member to record the daily outdoor temperature on a chart. The chart can be created on a piece of construction paper using a ruler. Each chart will have two columns, one for the day of the week and the other for the temperature. The charts will have five rows, one for each school day of the week. Instruct groups on the elements of a line graph.
