How Do You Create A Perfect Villain?

• Style is one important factor in creating a villain and certainly the most fun. Different kinds of dressing styles tell different things and should fit the mood and milieu of the story. • How much of a threat they are to heroes? Villains should have presence throughout the story, even if they weren’t physically present. Show scenes, which warn what happens to heroes if they aren’t careful. One good way of doing this is to show a minor character, who dared go against and had to pay dearly for it. Give them an original personality just like any other character. There are many kinds of villains for every go. Compelling antagonists are: • sleazy, devious and obnoxious • funny and hilarious • unspeakably, horrifically evil • rather ambiguous and perhaps semi-sympathetic than outright evil, yet still have a strong sinister aura • oddly sympathetic • immensely creepy • Some of the most memorable ones usually have more than one of the traits listed above.(Don’t forget consistency, however!)
