Windows 98 has a built-in utility that allows you to easily create a startup disk. You can use the startup disk for a number of purposes, including to start Windows 98 when normal booting from the hard disk does not work. The startup disk also has options for formatting and error-checking disk drives. Insert a blank floppy disk in the floppy drive of your computer. Insert the Windows 98 setup CD in the CD drive of your computer. Go to “Start,” point to “Settings,” and then click on “Control Panel.” Double-click on the “Add Remove Programs” icon in the control panel. Click on the “Startup Disk” tab in the “Add Remove Programs Properties” dialog box. Click on the “Create Disk” button and then wait for the process to complete.
