A microphone stand holds the mic in place while it is in use. It allows the performer to work hands-free while talking into the mic. A professional mic stand can be expensive, though features such as stability and an adjustable design make it a must for a variety of performers. However, creating a simple stand is an easy task and allows a user to make recordings with the mic held firmly in place. Lay one of the 2-foot by 4-foot planks of wood on the ground. Using the hack saw, cut another of the wood planks in half, placing each half flush against both sides of the middle of the plank of wood on the ground. Place the third wood plank over the cut wood and center it so two ends of the wood it’s lying on top of stick out equally. Connect the wood on top to the wood below it with two screws on each side.
