How Do You Create A Geocache With A Peanut Butter Jar?
When creating a geocache, it’s important that the container be sturdy, large enough to hold trinkets and a log book and impervious to the elements. It’s also advantageous if the container didn’t cost you anything. An empty peanut butter jar is an excellent choice. Wash an empty peanut butter jar completely and let it dry. Paint the outside of the jar to camouflage it when hidden. Paint the jar a dark brown if you’re going to hide it in a tree stump, or tan if it will be hidden in a desert area. Paint the lid as well. Let the paint dry completely. Search for small trinkets to add to the jar. Look for inexpensive bags of plastic army men, bouncy balls, plastic insects or other small items. Fill the jar one-quarter or one-third withsmall items for trade. People who find the cache may trade your items for theirs, so you want to leave enough room for different kinds of trinkets. Add a small notebook and pencil for the geocache’s log book. Write the first entry, including your geocaching han
