Graphic organizers have proven to be the most effective way of introducing new concepts to students. The human mind grasps pictures more quickly than words, so putting new concepts into a graphic form allows students to remember the concepts more easily. Guiding your students to create their own pictures, or insert what they are learning into a picture, promotes a more solid grasp of the information. Select the most appropriate graphic for the subject material. Simple black and white graphics with a limited number of sections (four or five) are best. A graphic related to the subject works well.
