How Do You Create A Comic Strip?
• Decide if you want your comic strip to be quite short or quite long. Is it a one off or a series? Is it an action comic (like Superman) or a funny comic (like the Beano)? • Come up with an idea for a comic strip. It can be something simple like a small gag, a catchy title or an interesting setting. Take ideas from your own life, thinking about what has made you laugh recently or what happened in the news. Although the idea is important in a comic strip it’s not like a story because the drawings and expressions of the characters add equally to it. • Come up with a hero that has a great personality. Draw the hero on his/her own and in different positions – this is a very useful step especially if you are doing a series. The hero needs to be likable. Give them features and clothes that reflect their personality. It’s a cartoon so your drawing doesn’t have to be amazing – develop your own style! You don’t need to give too much detail because you’ll probably end up drawing it quite small
