Modern day role playing games are a great way to connect with other people and be transported to another realm of possibility. Creating an exciting, new world purely from imagination is something most people started doing as children. For some, this skill flourishes and grows into a power to take other people into their worlds and show them their creations. It all starts with an idea. Decide what type of world your game will take place in. Carefully plan your setting to make it believable. Check your facts as you develop your game if it is based on periods, books or movies. Create believable characters to achieve an “immersive” game where players feel they are living a life inside the game. Add depth with analogous activities from the real world; give your players jobs, money and relationships. Choose a medium. Video is the most difficult to develop, but the most popular.
