Dining chair cushions never seem to last as long as your table does, not with all of the food spills and hindquarters gracing them over the years. But there’s no need to replace your chairs when you can cover your own cushions. Remove the cushion and board from your dining room chair by unscrewing it from the underside of the chair. Measure the size of the dining chair cushion. Include the board, or the sturdy portion of your dining chair, when measuring. Cut enough fabric and batting to extend 2 inches beyond the cushion on all sides. For example, if your cushion is 16 inches by 18 inches, your fabric and batting pieces should be 20 inches (16 + 2 + 2) by 22 inches (18 + 2 + 2). Cut a piece of felt that is 1 inch smaller (total) than the size of the cushion (using the above example, the felt would be 15 by 17 inches).
