How Do You Counteract Radical Campus Feminism?
Radical feminism is a belief system that the oppression of women is the model for all other forms of oppression the world. To the far left of the feminist movement, radical feminism emphasizes the roots of women’s oppression in the patriarchal system of inequality between women and men. Radical feminism opposes current government systems because of their roots in a patriarchal society. Have open and honest discussions with individuals that adhere to radical feminism. Learning to understand one another leads to better communication. Form or join a campus group committed to promoting the rights of women, not just feminism. Invite members of the radical feminist movement on your campus to gatherings of non-feminists. Allow for dialogue between the two groups. Communicate clearly with those belonging to radical feminist groups that not all women feel the same way about women’s issues. Promote diversity among women as much as possible.
