How Do You Correctly Work Through A Math Problem?
It’s important to evaluate (or solve) a math expression by doing each step in the correct order. It’s the only way to get a correct answer. Fair warning, though: Following the order of operations can be a little tricky. (The video is down until I can edit it. Thanks for the heads-up!) When you first look at a math expression, start with anything inside parentheses. If there are a lot of parentheses in a row, start with the one on the left and work your way to the right. If the parentheses are nested inside each other, start with the most nested set of parentheses and work your way out. Please note that working with parentheses may involve either solving the expression inside the parentheses or distributing across the terms inside the parentheses. Next, you will want to look for exponents. Exponents are those tiny numbers that often hover behind to variables, but can also show up behind numbers. To get rid of exponents, you will either solve the term or distribute the exponent across a
