In Canada, the equivalent of the United States Copyright Office is the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Anything that you want to copyright in Canada must be copyrighted through this office. Unlike the United States Copyright Office, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office does not require that you send in a copy of the work you are registering. A copyright in Canada lasts for the life of the author, plus an additional 50 years after death. Create a new user account on the Industry Canada website (see Resources), if you do not already have one.
