A Universal Serial Bus (USB) thumb drive, also known as a pen drive or flash drive, is a type of memory device. The storage capacity of a USB thumb drive ranges from 2GB to 16GB. These drives allow you to store files such as pictures, but most often the device is used to transfer data quickly between computers. Log on to a user account in Windows XP or Vista. Insert a thumb drive into a USB port of your computer. The device is automatically recognized by Windows XP/Vista. Click “Start” and select “Computer” to open Windows Explorer. Double-click on a thumb drive letter (such as “E”) under “Devices with Removable Storage” to open the drive content. Click “Start” and select “Computer” to launch a second Windows Explorer window. Browse to the folder with pictures. Holding “Ctrl” on the keyboard, click on each image file to you want to copy. Release “Ctrl.” Holding the left mouse button, drag the selected pictures to the thumb drive opened in Step 4 to copy them.
