Copying photo slides to digital involves a process called scanning. A scanner works with technology similar to a photocopier to create a digital copy of a picture that can then be stored on the hard drive of a computer, on an external memory device, or burned to a media disc. Most scanners are designed to copy multiple slides at once, speeding up what would otherwise be a tedious process of placing one slide at a time on the scanner plate.
