Some computer problems are best approached using the DOS command prompt, even when you are troubleshooting in a Windows environment. One lesser-known ability of the command prompt is the fact that text can be copied and pasted to and from it. This is especially helpful when someone is helping you remotely and needs to see the things that you do to understand the nature of the problem. Learn to copy and paste text in DOS to make the process of troubleshooting computer problems a simpler one. Access the DOS command prompt by typing the “Windows Key” and “R” simultaneously. Type “cmd” in the box that appears. Once in DOS, click the tiny “C:\” icon in the upper left corner of the screen to bring up the menu.
