The days of camera film and 35mm slide photography may soon be gone, so transferring your collection of images from slides into the digital realm might be a good idea to preserve priceless photographic memories. You might even be more inclined to review your photos with the convenience of creating a digital slideshow that can be viewed on your computer or television. The key to this transfer is a scanner that can copy your old slides and convert them into digital pictures for storage on a computer or CD-ROM disc. Insert the slide attachment into the scanner lid by sliding along the grooved track until it snaps into place (skip this step if your scanner has a dedicated slide holder). Connect the scanner to your computer using a free USB port. From the computer menu click on the scanner icon, or go to the control panel and select “Scanner” or “Digital Imaging,” depending on how your computer displays the scanner hardware. Open the scanner menu by double clicking with your mouse or touchp
