Movies presented on cable and satellite television or broadcast over the air can often be copied to a disc using a DVD recorder connected directly to the TV set. Some channels—mainly premium channels—may be encrypted with anti-copy protection, but movies on basic cable and satellite channels as well as network broadcasts can usually be copied without any problems. A standard set of composite audio-video cables, which typically comes with the DVD recorder, will be needed to connect with the TV. Plug in the white, yellow and red cables from the matching output jacks on the back of the TV to the input (record) jacks on the rear of the DVD recorder.
