How Do You Cook With Pots Outdoors?
When you go camping, you might think that you need to pack several pots and pans in order to prepare your meals, but all you need is a single pot to cook with outdoors: a Dutch oven. This cast iron pot has three feet on its base for support, a lipped lid and a handle. These allow you to put the covered pot directly into the coals, and put more coals on top to more evenly cook your food. If the idea of dragging a cast iron Dutch oven through the woods does not appeal to you, you can use any of the lightweight camping pots available to cook with outside. Build your campfire and allow the flames to die down to hot coals. Cooking directly on the coals lets you avoid having to make a tripod to support your pot. Place your food in the pot and cover. Place the pot directly on top of the coals. If you are using a Dutch oven, you can put additional coals on top of the lid to heat the food more quickly. The lip on the edge of the Dutch oven will prevent the coals from falling off the top of the
