How Do You Cook Long Grain Jasmine Rice?
Long grain jasmine rice adds aroma and an exotic flavor to your dishes. You can use this rice in Thai dishes, for pilafs and as a substitute for Basmati rice in any recipe, or serve jasmine rice as a side dish instead of instant rice. Preparing jasmine rice is similar to making other long grain rice but the cooking time and proportions of water and rice vary with the strain of rice. Pour the jasmine rice into a colander and rinse thoroughly to release excess starches and dust from the grains. Add the water and rinsed rice into the pot and bring to a boil uncovered over high heat. Lower the heat to medium and cover the pot. Simmer the rice over medium low heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cooking liquid has been absorbed by the rice. Add two to four minutes of cooking time if the rice is not tender enough to your liking. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
