How Do You Cook In Franciscan Earthenware?
Franciscan earthenware is known for its hand-painted patterns and rustic, California-casual feel. “Franciscan” alludes to the simplicity of Franciscan monks and folk designs prevalent in Mexico. The inclusion of the mineral Malinite, which is made of rock rather than clay, enables this dinnerware to go from oven to table. All Franciscan pottery is microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. Some of the patterns are oven-safe as well. Check to make sure that your Franciscan earthenware is marked “Oven Safe.” All Franciscan dinnerware is microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, but only if it is marked “Franciscan Oven Safe — Color Seal Ink” or “Color Safe / Oven Proof” can you use it in the oven. Start with a cold oven. Do not preheat your oven. Place your Franciscan earthenware, with your food items inside, in the cold oven, and then turn the oven on. Once your dish is cooked, using pot holders, remove your Franciscan earthenware from the oven and take it right to your table to serve.
