How Do You Cook In Cast Iron Cookware?

0

Cared for correctly, cast iron cookware will last for years. When cast iron is seasoned the right way, the surface becomes similar to that of a nonstick surface. Cast iron is made of a porous material and when cared for correctly will be one of the most versatile pieces of cookware you can have in your kitchen. Use your cast iron cookware on the stove top, in the oven or start a dish on the stove and move it to the oven. Place your cast iron cookware on the stove top or in the oven to preheat the surface. Allow the cast iron cookware to preheat for a few minutes. Place your food in the cast iron pot or pan. Follow normal cooking directions to cook your food in the oven or on the stove top. Take your cast iron pot or pan from the oven or stove top and place on a hot pad. Remove the food from the pan. Scrape food stains from the pan while it’s still hot. Wash with plain water; no soap and a soft-bristled brush. Wipe dry with a clean towel.
