How Do You Cook A Tri-Tip Roast On A Gas Grill?
Do not needlessly heat your kitchen to make a tri-tip roast. Prepare it on your gas grill outside, instead. Tri-tip roasts have a triangular shape and come from the very end of the sirloin cut. Some butchers will cut a tri-tip roast into sirloin steaks. While barbecuing a tri-tip on the grill might sound simple, improper handling of the meat during cooking can result in a roast which has a tough, chewy texture and dry taste. For best flavor, treat the tri-tip as you would the steaks which come from it by searing them over high heat before finishing the cooking process. Bring the tri-tip roast to room temperature by removing it from the refrigerator 20 to 30 minutes before cooking. Rub the olive oil over the roast to coat and optionally follow by rubbing the dry spice mix onto the surface of the roast. Set the gas grilling racks directly over the flame and preheat all burners on the grill to their highest setting. Lay the roast on the grill over direct heat and turn it over every minute
