How Do You Cook A Live Maine Lobster?
Cooking delicious Maine lobster in your home is the best way to enjoy fresh lobster. Maine lobsters are some of the largest, juiciest and tastiest lobsters in the world. Cooking lobsters “live” ensures that they are fresh, but timing is essential so that the lobster is not overcooked. Live lobsters come with rubberbands on their claws for your safety. You will want to leave them on until you are ready to eat your lobster. Fill a large pot with two thirds water. Bring to a rolling boil. Submerge the lobster into the pot head first, ensuring it is completely covered in water. Place a lid on the pot and bring to another boil. Begin timing once the water has reached a second boil. Boil 10 minutes per pound, adding an additional three minutes per additional pound. Remove the lobster from the water with the tongs and place on a plate or platter. Snip the rubberbands off of the claws before eating.
