I am proud to say that I’m sharing this recipe from my mother’s recipe box. Every year when the plums ripened on our trees, there was only one thing on my mind…Plum Kuchen! Our trees were Santa Rosa Plums…a fruit that is very sweet and sour at times. I loved this sweet and sour taste along with the yeast bread. The center part with the fruit is very moist while the edges are soft and tastey yeast bread. I love this cake warm for breakfast and also cold for dessert. For breakfast, I like the cake by itself, for dinner it might be nice to add some vanilla cream sauce or perhaps vanilla ice cream. For my family, this recipe is all about the plums, however I can see that you can be successful with other fruits too, especially apples. You will see that this recipe does yeast.
