If you have a collection of VHS tapes and home movies you want to preserve, transfer them to a computer or DVD before they degrade and eventually become unusable. There are several ways to accomplish this–from purchasing converter boxes to paying someone else to do it for you–but if you have the proper equipment, it is also possible to do it yourself, for free.
