A video compact disc (VCD) allows movie playback on CDs. CDs are usually used for audio but, with the proper player and program, can be used to play small video files. The Audio Video Interleave (AVI) format, created by Microsoft, is commonly used for online videos. There are many programs that can convert VCD to AVI with a purchase. However, if you do a bit of digging, freeware programs are available and are just as reliable as a purchased program. Download and install a file format conversion program to your PC. There are many of these programs available on the Internet (see Resources). Open the file format conversion program by clicking the icon that is created on your desktop or by going to the “Start” menu and selecting the file from your list of programs.
