0

An SFX file is a compressed file in a Zip format. There is a distinct difference though in that you don’t need software to extract its contents because it is self-extracting. All you have to do to get everything out of the file is double click it and tell it where you want the contents stored. Converting a self-extracting file to a regular Zip file can be accomplished quickly, and the only software you’ll need is Windows itself. Locate your SFX file and double click on it. This will bring up a prompt asking you where you want the contents extracted to. Select someplace that has plenty of room and few icons. Your Desktop may be a good place, or maybe My Documents. After you’ve selected the destination, let the files unzip. It may take a little while depending on how big the files are. Wait for the files to all be uncompressed and then just re-compress them. Highlight everything that was just unzipped with the right mouse button, and click on “Send to.” Select “Compressed (zipped) folder
