If your laptop or desktop computer has a PCMCIA card slot, you can convert the card slot to a usable USB port. PCMCIA slots allow you to convert the slot to a variety of functions using adapters. Examples include wireless cards, Bluetooth, micro SD and USB. A PCMCIA-to-USB adapter can be purchased and will turn the slot into a usable USB 2.0 connection. USB technology is a Plug-and-Play technology. This means the computer will automatically detect any USB device that you connect to a USB port. Purchase a PCMCIA-to-USB adapter from a computer store or electronics store (see links in Resources). Connect the card end of the PCMCIA adapter to the PCMCIA card slot on the laptop or computer. Push the card end into the slot until it is firmly in place. Connect the USB device that you want to connect to your laptop or computer. Connect the USB device to the USB port on the PCMCIA adapter you just installed. If the USB device you are using came with a USB cable, connect 1 end to the USB device
