How Do You Convert Mixed Numbers Into Improper Fraction?

I absolutely love math! Here are a few easy steps on how to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions. First let’s start with a little vocab. In a mixed number you have a WHOLE number alongside a fraction. In this fraction, the top number (or in this case the number before the slash)is the numberator and the bottom number (or in this case the number after the slash) is the denominator. 11 1/5 11 is the WHOLE number. 1 is the numerator of the fraction. 5 is the denominator of the fraction Multiply the WHOLE number by the denominator. 11 X 5 = 55 Add the numerator to the product. (A product is the answer of a mutliplication problem.) 55 + 1 = 56 Write the sum on as the numerator on the initial denominator.
