How Do You Convert DVD Movies Into Mpeg?

Your DVD has two main file components: the Audio and Video TS folders. In order to convert your DVD, you must use a program that can extract and convert the components of these TS folders. Since your computer does not come with software that can perform these conversions, you must download a program from the Internet. Several choices include: AVS Video Converter (freeware), HandBrake (freeware), and Xilisoft ($35.95 as of 2010)–all of them with specific presets to rip your DVDs to MPEG format. All programs allow for converting to MP4s for cell phones or portable media devices. Visit the AVS website and choose to download the program. Agree to the terms of use and install. Launch AVS and insert your DVD into your computer. Click the “Browse…” button next to the input file name box to direct AVS to the “Video TS” folder on your DVD. Choose to open the whole folder in AVS. Click the “To MPEG” or “To MP4” button at the top of the AVS screen. Press the “Browse…” output file name button
