How Do You Convert Clip-Back Earrings To Pierced Earrings?
Clip-back earrings can pinch earlobes and are unnecessary for people with pierced ears. Vintage earrings often have clip backs instead of pierced posts. Whether the clip-back earrings were inherited or purchased from a consignment shop, they can be converted with a few tools and different earring backs to be worn in pierced ears. Wedge the flat-head screwdriver under the clip. Gently move the screwdriver up and down to see if the glue is weak and the clip will pop off. Pull at the clip with pliers until it detaches. Increase pressure slowly with the pliers, pulling away from the earring while holding it down with your fingers or the screwdriver. Remove any excess glue with Goo Gone and lightly sand where the clip and glue were previously. Apply glue made specifically for jewelry to the center of the earring and position the pierced-earring back on top of the glue. Use a toothpick to remove any excess glue before allowing it to dry.
