How Do You Control Dandruff By Knowing What Causes Dandruff?
Dandruff is caused by dead skin cells the fall from our heads. We actually shed dead skins cells everyday. Dandruff is caused by a fungus that is present on the scalp. The irritated scalp sheds dead skin cells that are larger then normal and this is what we call dandruff. First you need to make sure that it is really dandruff and not dermatitis which would show redness of the skin along with scaling on the scalp. You would need to see a dermatologist to obtain a prescription medication for dermatitis or psoriasis. If you have dandruff make sure to shampoo daily to get rid of excessive oils on your scalp. You can also try different shampoos to see which one will help control the flakes. If you are using a regular shampoo you might want to try a antidandruff shampoo. You should try and use several different shampoo’s over several months. Your dandruff could return if it gets resistance to the same brand of shampoo.
