Sheds can be constructed using your own plans or designs or purchasing a complete unit from a home improvement store. Building a small shed yourself will require deciding how big it is going to be and the type of wood to use for its construction. A shed can be constructed from wood, plastic and even metal. Building a small storage shed is similar to building a one room house. Determine the size of shed that you require and find a place in your yard where it will be located. Construct the floor of the shed first. Measure and cut lengths of 2×4 to construct a frame that is the same width and length of the shed. Cover the floor with 3/2 inch plywood using a hammer and nails. Measure and cut the plywood first or use a circular saw to trim off any excess. Construct the wall frames that will be used for each side of the shed. Place the studs in the frame 16 inches apart, just like a standard house frame. Measure and cut pieces of 2×4 to the correct length for each wall frame. Measure and fra
