DSL is a type of high-speed Internet access that uses a home phone line to connect your computer to the Web. While much faster than dial-up Internet (which also uses phone lines to connect your computer to the Web), DSL is not nearly as fast as cable Internet or T1 Internet connections. If you want to connect your computer using DSL Internet service, you’ll need to ensure that the equipment (namely, the DSL modem) is properly connected to your computer. That means you’ll need to invest in a few cables. Plug one end of a standard telephone cord (available at most electronics retailers) into a standard phone jack in the wall of your home or office.
