How Do You Connect Low Batteries In A Series To Start A Car?

0

A dead car battery and a car that won’t start is a frustrating experience. Low voltage can be the reason that a battery will not turn the starter. If your car is stuck with a low voltage battery and you have two low voltage batteries available, you can connect them together in series to gain use of the combined voltages of the batteries and start the car. Use a wrench to attach a jumper wire between the negative terminal of the first battery and the positive terminal of the second battery. Connect the positive battery cable from the car to the positive terminal of the first battery. Connect the negative battery cable from the car to the negative terminal of the second battery. Try starting the car. Add additional batteries to the series if needed by following the same pattern for connecting them as described in steps 1 and 2. The batteries next to one another in series should have opposite polarity terminals connected by a jumper wire.
